1. Introduction and acceptance of terms
These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Harrington & Vale Electrical Services Ltd in relation to the supply of our services. If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not place a booking or otherwise instruct us to carry out any work.
We may also require additional written quotations, service estimates, work orders, safety notices, or site-specific conditions to apply alongside these Terms. In the event of a conflict, any expressly agreed written quotation or work order will prevail to the extent of that conflict.
2. Scope of services
Harrington & Vale Electrical Services Ltd provides local domestic and property-related electrical services, including but not limited to:
- Domestic electrical repairs;
- Fuse board upgrades;
- Lighting installation;
- EV charger installation;
- Socket and switch replacement;
- Landlord electrical safety checks.
All services are provided subject to site inspection, technical feasibility, availability of materials, access to the property, and any applicable legal, safety, or regulatory requirements. We reserve the right to decline or suspend work where the proposed work is unsafe, non-compliant, outside our competence, or otherwise impractical.
Any timeframes, estimates, or completion dates provided are approximate unless expressly agreed in writing. Electrical works may reveal hidden defects, pre-existing faults, or non-compliant installations that require additional remedial work, which may affect price and completion time.
3. User obligations and responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information relevant to the work;
- Ensure safe, reasonable, and timely access to the property and to any relevant fixtures, consumer units, circuits, or equipment;
- Obtain all necessary permissions, consents, licences, landlord approvals, tenant permissions, building consents, or access arrangements before the work begins;
- Notify us of any known hazards, asbestos, concealed services, damp, flooding, structural issues, pests, or other site conditions that may affect the work;
- Ensure that valuables, fragile items, and personal possessions are secured before work commences;
- Use any electrical installations, appliances, EV chargers, or systems we install or repair in accordance with manufacturer instructions and all applicable safety guidance;
- Not interfere with, alter, or misuse any completed installation prior to inspection or handover.
You are responsible for ensuring that the property and electrical infrastructure are suitable for the requested service. If we reasonably consider that conditions at the property create a health or safety risk, we may pause or stop the work.
Where you are a landlord or property manager, you are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable electrical safety obligations, including arranging access for inspections and retaining any necessary records or certificates issued in connection with the work.
4. Payment terms and conditions
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, charges for services will be based on our quotation, estimate, fixed-fee arrangement, hourly rate, call-out fee, or a combination of these, as applicable. Any estimate provided is not a binding quotation unless we expressly state otherwise.
All prices may be subject to additional charges for:
- Materials, parts, fittings, and specialist equipment;
- Parking, congestion, tolls, or access-related costs;
- Emergency or out-of-hours attendance where agreed;
- Additional labour arising from hidden defects, variations, or unforeseen site conditions;
- Reattendance visits made necessary by factors outside our control.
Payment is due in full in accordance with the invoice, booking confirmation, or written agreement. We may require deposits, stage payments, or payment on completion, depending on the nature of the work. We reserve the right to withhold commencement or continuation of work until any required deposit has been received.
If payment is not made on time, we may charge reasonable late payment interest and recover reasonable costs of collection to the extent permitted by applicable law. Title to any goods, parts, or materials supplied by us may remain with us until full payment has been received.
Where card payments, bank transfers, or other electronic payment methods are accepted, you are responsible for ensuring that payment is correctly made and cleared. We do not accept liability for delays caused by your bank or payment provider.
5. Cancellation and refund policy
You may cancel or reschedule an appointment by contacting us as soon as possible using the details set out in these Terms. Cancellations made with insufficient notice may incur a reasonable cancellation fee to cover administration, reserved labour time, travel, or materials already purchased.
If you cancel after we have ordered materials, attended site, or started the work, you may be charged for all work completed, materials supplied, and any costs reasonably incurred up to the point of cancellation.
Where you are entitled to a refund under applicable law, any refund will be limited to the amount actually paid for the relevant undelivered or unsupplied service, after deduction of any non-recoverable costs lawfully chargeable. Refunds will not normally be available for:
- Completed and accepted work;
- Issues caused by misuse, tampering, or subsequent alterations by others;
- Change-of-mind requests after work has commenced;
- Materials specially ordered at your request, where non-returnable.
If we must cancel or postpone an appointment due to circumstances beyond our control, safety concerns, unavailable parts, or your failure to provide access or required information, we will arrange a new appointment or provide a refund for any prepaid sums relating to undelivered services, subject to applicable law.
6. Liability limitations
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Subject to the foregoing, Harrington & Vale Electrical Services Ltd shall not be liable for:
- Loss or damage arising from inaccurate information provided by you;
- Pre-existing faults, hidden defects, or non-compliant installations not reasonably discoverable at the time of inspection;
- Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses;
- Loss of profit, business, goodwill, revenue, anticipated savings, or opportunity;
- Damage caused by misuse, abuse, interference, third-party work, vandalism, accidents, flooding, fire, or other external events;
- Delays resulting from access issues, supply shortages, force majeure events, or matters outside our reasonable control.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with any particular contract or series of related events shall, to the maximum extent permitted by law, be limited to the amount paid or payable to us for the relevant service giving rise to the claim.
You remain responsible for maintaining appropriate insurance coverage for your property, contents, fixtures, and any business interruption or tenant-related risk.
7. Intellectual property rights
All intellectual property rights in our branding, website content, service descriptions, quotations, templates, photographs, diagrams, drawings, written materials, and any other documents or content created by or for Harrington & Vale Electrical Services Ltd remain our property or the property of our licensors, unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, modify, or exploit our materials for commercial purposes without our prior written consent. Any plans, drawings, reports, certificates, or documentation provided to you in connection with the services may be used by you only for the purpose for which they were supplied.

Where relevant, we may also retain photographs, inspection notes, certificates, or technical records relating to the work carried out.
We may share personal data with third parties where reasonably necessary to provide the services, comply with legal obligations, process payments, arrange materials, or resolve disputes. This may include subcontractors, suppliers, insurers, accountants, and professional advisers.

9. Force majeure
We shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform our obligations where such delay or failure arises from events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, fire, flood, pandemic, epidemic, strike, labour dispute, power failure, supply chain disruption, transport interruption, equipment breakdown, civil unrest, acts of government, or any other similar event.
Where a force majeure event occurs, our obligations will be suspended for the duration of the event, and the time for performance will be extended accordingly. If the event continues for a prolonged period, either party may agree to cancel the affected service and settle any sums properly due for work already carried out or costs already incurred.
10. Changes to terms
We may update or revise these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our business, legal requirements, service practices, or operational needs. The updated Terms will apply from the date they are posted or otherwise communicated to you, unless a different effective date is stated.
Where changes materially affect an existing booking or live contract, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you. Continued use of our services after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.
11. Applicable law and jurisdiction
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable in the jurisdiction in which Harrington & Vale Electrical Services Ltd operates, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the courts with competent jurisdiction in the relevant forum shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms, the services, or any related non-contractual obligations.

The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. Any failure by us to enforce any right or provision under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
